What is "perfection" According to the Bible?

Here's the unexpected Answer:

Perfection (τελείωσις)

On this web page you will find a short message regarding research into a Greek word which is often translated to the English word "perfect.".

I initially began writing this message for my opponants who hold to the belief that a believer in Christ will remain in sin and be idle while somehow remaining a child of God! Of course this isn't acceptable according to Christ and the written message of God (the Bible). But I was actually quite surprised at the fuller meaning of this Greek word.

"Perfection" (God's definition of it) is actually achievable through God's process of sanctification. Matter of fact "perfection" is commanded (Matthew 5:48).

There are many Scriptures I will provide to back this claim up, so please hear me out.....!

First of all I would like to start by saying that no biblical prophet, apostle or true teacher of God ever condoned [willful] sinning and said that we can sin [willfully] and be a child of God..

I say this because I have encountered many people who bring up the Scriptures where the apostle Paul is talking about the weakness of the flesh. But if you read the full context, Paul ALWAYS continues to say that through Christ and His Spirit within us we have complete victory.

Matter of fact, there is not ONE place that you can show me where The apostle Paul says you can sin and go to heaven. He repeatedly says the exact opposite.

2000 years ago, the apostle Peter spoke of the people who would twist Paul's writings. They were twisting Paul's writings then, and they're still doing it now. Peter says: "And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrestle, as they do also the other Scriptures, unto their own destruction." (2 Peter 3:15, 16)

Unto their own destruction! Be very careful what you preach! This is why God instructs us to be CIRCUMSPECT and to STUDY, Make every effort to present yourself approved to God, an unashamed workman who accurately handles the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15)

Faith means believing that God can eventually make you PERFECT through His power within you (Ephesians Chapter 2).

Christ, in the book of Revelation gives a mighty warning regarding this: "Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God." (Revelation 3:2) Jesus continues to say in verse 3 that they had better repent. Read it for yourself.

This is a warning from God Himself to the churches in these last days! This is a warning to US if we will hear it.

What I am saying is that God wants to encourage us. He wants us to GO FURTHER... That God can make us victorious overcomers through the energy He provides by His gift of faith in His Son, Christos Jesus! And I will not limit God. For with God "Nothing shall be impossible." -Luke 1:37-

And our flesh must be dealt with before we can spread the good news without being hypocrites! Otherwise, we aren't practicing what we preach! Even the secular world knows that.

This is where the joy comes from, knowing that God *within you* can overcome any obstacle and weakness. This is the meaning of the Scripture "The joy of the Lord is our strength." Nehemiah 8:10 Because the joy comes from the overwhelming power of God when we become Born Again. When we can walk "in holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our lives." Luke Chapter 1 Verse 75 KJV

This is about growth my friends. The apostle Peter said "Grow in grace" (2 Peter 3:18) and Paul prayed for Even their perfection (spiritual maturity) 2 Cor 13:9. The apostle Paul knew it was attainable. He wasn't only hoping, he brought it before God in prayer as he was being guided by the Holy Spirit. He knew it was not only attainable, but required! Christ said "Be therefore perfect even as your Father which is heaven is perfect." (Matthew 5:18)

Who will you decide to believe? The false ministers who basically say that it's ok to defy God (as the serpent deceived Eve), or will you believe what Christ said; "If you love me keep my commandments." (John 14:15) and "I am your friends IF you do whatsoever I command you." (John 15:14)

This is the strait gate we all have to "strive" to enter through to gain access to Christ's blessings and the promise of eternal life.

What would the apostle Paul be talking about when he said "Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears."

He was talking about how grievous wolves shall enter in among the flock speaking perverse things and drawing away disciples after themselves. (Acts 20:29, 30) Paul says that this WILL happen. These wicked evildoers WILL be among us!

The apostle Paul says the last days will be perilous times for believers. (2 Timothy 3:1) "But evil men and seducers shall become worse and worse deceiving and being deceived" (2 Tim 3:13) "Even the elect if possible" (Matthew 24:24) as Christ warned. The Apostle Paul said "Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Can’t you see for yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you— unless you actually fail the test?" (2 cor 13:5)

"Those controlled by the flesh cannot please God. 9You, however, are controlled not by the flesh, but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ." Romans 8:8, 9

Isaiah by the holy Spirit said it like this,

"Who has believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?" (Isaiah 53) To whom is the grace, strength and energy of God revealed to through His Christos Son?

Who will enter into this New Covenant Testament? This agreement between two parties? Who will believe God?

For with God nothing shall be impossible! -Luke 1:37-

God who separated the Red Sea for the children of Israel to walk through. God, who formed the earth, sun, moon in a matter of days! Shall He not keep us holy by His power? Yes He will! We HAVE to receive this message to be saved and make it into heaven. Otherwise it is IMPOSSIBLE for us to be His witnesses! Because without this knowledge, there is no good news, gospel.

"Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD." (Jer 17:5)

Put your faith in God and know that through Christ, perfection IS attainable. Don't trust in man (or even yourself), don't make weak flesh your trust. Don't depend on or have faith in weak flesh. Don't concentrate on flesh. Concentrate on holy Spirit. On God's Word. On things above. Concentrate on the verses where God says how powerful we are through HIS GRACE.

"Trust in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:" Isaiah 26:4

I'm not setting you up for failure (as some have accused), I'm setting you up for great success! And when you understand this you will understand the Prince of Peace, you will know true joy and happiness that far surpasses the imagination, peace you never thought was possible.

Please pray to God and ask Him to open your eyes to His Truth and Power.

"Whom having not seen, you love; in whom, though now you see him not, yet believing, you rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:" 1 Peter 1:8

Do you have this? Do you really know the source of Power, Love and the Sound Mind?

"For with God nothing shall be impossible" -Luke 1:37-

And The old Testament Prophets spoke of this day.

One of my favorite Scriptures is something Christ said through the prophet Ezekiel. It's Ezekiel 36:25 - 27 but I will highlight one verse which says, "And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall shall keep my judgments and do them."

Just think about this. You are saved by believing this Scripture because you are saved by faith in every Word of God and this is one of the most important ones because this was the whole purpose of Christ's coming. So that we would walk in all the ways of the Lord our God through faith in “THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.” Jer 23:6.

As the father of John the baptist prophesied before all the people in Luke 1:67 - 75. Zecharias said that we "...might serve Him without fear, In holiness and righteousness before Him ALL THE DAYS OF OUR LIFE." Amen!

Study the Bible everyone and see for yourself. King David said, "God is my strength and power: and He maketh my way perfect." 2 Sam 22:33. Growing to perfection. Know this and cleave to this truth, that WE CAN grow to perfection.

"He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also give us all things?" Romans Chapter 8 Verse 32

"This is the love of God, that we keep His commandments: and His commandments are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith." (1 John 5:3, 4)

"Even our FAITH."!! That precious gift. That we are "More than conquerors THROUGH HIM that loved us." Romans 8:37 "And this IS the LOVE of GOD, THAT WE KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS."

And they are not grievous because we have the power of the mighty God within us and with God nothing shall be impossible.

Christ said, "You shall receive POWER after that the holy Spirit has come upon you... and ye shall be my witnesses unto the uttermost part of the earth". Acts 1:7 Witnesses of what? Of God's power! Not man's weakness! Where's the power? In Christ!

"But as many as received Him, to them gave He POWER to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name." John 1:12 Yeshua Hamashiach, the Christ, the Messiah or Anointed One, the One who anoints with His power and God's actual life which is synonymous. Also called "grace"

But to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? And who will believe our report? Do YOU believe? Do you REALLY believe? Maybe you want to believe. Well, keep seeking God by reading His Word and pray to Him and He will answer you if you seek Him with all your heart. This is God's Word, not mine. If you feel you can't seek Him with all your heart, ask Him to give you the ability to do so. He will answer you. He answered me. But I can also tell you I turned to Him with all my heart. That is how I became saved.

Because Christ poured out His soul unto death and the Lord hath laid the iniquity of us all on Christ and He was wounded for our transgressions, GET THIS, last verse of Isaiah 53: “Therefore will I divide Him (Christ) a portion with the great (God), and He (Christ and God) shall divide the spoil with the strong;...” The strong are those who believe in the overcoming mighty power of God through Christ. As the Lord says we are joint heirs with Christ and heirs of everything God has. Romans 8:17

"Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think ACCORDING TO THE POWER THAT WORKETH IN US," Eph 3:20

Let me pose a question to all who read this. Explain this to me, how could Christ on two separate occasions in Scripture command someone to "Go and sin no more" (John 5:14 and 8:10) if it were not possible? Make your decision now. Who will you believe?

The apostle Paul who said "Be perfect" 2 Cor 13:10 or the voice that casts doubt on God's promises and power? Choose wisely. Your eternal soul is at stake.

You can be saved!

God loves the people in the world so much that He came down to die for us. If God is opening your heart to His message and you feel convicted for your sins which have separated you from a holy God and you feel the need to be forgiven, then say this prayer. This is how I was powerfully converted to the Christ in 1997!

Say, "My Lord and my God, have mercy on me, a sinner. I believe Jesus the Christ died on the cross and shed His precious blood for the forgiveness of all my sins. I believe Jesus raised from the dead and ascended into heaven and is now on the right-hand side of God listening to this prayer. I open up the door of my heart and I invite You in, Lord Jesus. Thank you, God, for saving my soul and I vow to serve you with all my heart which is the first and greatest commandment. Amen."
