Jim Morrison's father, George Stephen Morrison.

The bridge of the USS Bon Homme Richard, January 1964. Just months later, the guy on the right would guide his ship into the Tonkin Gulf, and the young man on the left would begin a remarkable transformation into a brooding "rock god". The Bon Homme Richard, by the way, was launched on April 29, 1944, under the sponsorship of Catherine McCain, the grandmother of a certain presidential contender.

Aboard the USS Hancock off South Korea, December 3, 1968: South Korean Prime Minister Chung Il Kwon is flanked by his hosts, Rear Adm. George S. Morrison, left, commander of Carrier Division Nine, and Vice Adm. William F. Bringle, commander of the U.S. 7th Fleet in the Pacific, as he watches jets from Air Wing 21 take off and land on the deck of the carrier USS Hancock. Morrison, father of singer Jim Morrison of The Doors, later served as commander of U.S. Naval Forces, Marianas, before retiring in August, 1975.
And Some believe his Naval career may have been slowed by political undertones surrounding his analysis of the USS Liberty incident which occurred in 1967. Morrison opposed the official US Navy response to the attack, and proposed an immediate and swift economic and military response against Israel for the attack on an official US Navy ship. Don't forget Jim went to seminary school. He went to Florida State University when it was seminary.

Jim Morrison quotes, "cancel my subscription to the resurrection", "When I was back in seminary school, there was a man there who put forth the proposition that you could petition the Lord with prayer, petition the Lord with prayer....YOU CAN NOT PETITION THE LORD WITH PRAYER!!" "...The monk bought lunch Ha ha, he bought a little, Yes, he did,.." Last two quotes from From The Soft Parade.
