Tracing the origins of the doctrine of "Once saved always saved"
Church Father Augustine of Hippo taught that all whom God chooses to save are given, in addition to the gift of faith, a gift of perseverance (donum perseverantiae) which enables them to continue to believe, and precludes the possibility of falling away.

More details on "Saint" Augustine:
"Although Augustine did not develop an independent Mariology, his statements on Mary surpass in number and depth those of other early writers. Even before the Council of Ephesus, he defended the ever Virgin Mary as the Mother of God, who, because of her virginity, is full of grace. Likewise, he affirmed that the Virgin Mary "conceived as virgin, gave birth as virgin and stayed virgin forever."
So its safe to say Augustine was a heretic. Stating that Mary remained a virgin her whole life is a doctrine not taught to us in Scripture. But many Christians feel he got it right with his "Once Saved Always Saved" doctrine. I wholeheartedly disagree.

Let God be true and every man a liar. No teachings, dreams, visions, experiences, revelations should allow us to divert from the sound doctrine taught to us in God's written word.
Why did you have to go to a theologian to understand the Bible instead of going to God in prayer? You went to a man's teachings. And man taught you a heresy. And now your church is based on this heresy. And you must defend this heresy to remain and be liked and/or highly esteemed in your "church".
"..... yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged." Romans 3:4; Psalm 51:4
"And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. "For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. "And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. "And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: "That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God."
"Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: " But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: "Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory."
"But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him."
"But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. "For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. "Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. "Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual."
"But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. "But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. "For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ." 1 Corinthians 2:1-16 King James Version Bible
The Word teaches us the truth. The Holy Spirit teaches us the understanding of the Scriptures as we seek Him. And this Word when thoroughly known can fight back and defeat all false doctrines. False doctrines that make allowances for SIN.
Sins unto death vs Sins NOT unto death
Willfully sinning against God vs Sinning in ignorance
First Mentioned in the Law:
Leviticus 4King James Version (KJV)
1 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
2 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a soul shall sin through ignorance against any of the commandments of the Lord concerning things which ought not to be done, and shall do against any of them:
3 If the priest that is anointed do sin according to the sin of the people; then let him bring for his sin, which he hath sinned, a young bullock without blemish unto the Lord for a sin offering.
............
The bible is so clear. Wait on the Lord, seek Him and He will reveal His mysteries to you in His Word "in due season" ...
"I will make known my Words unto you" Proverbs 1
For His Word defines and explains His Word... the more you know, the more you understand the deeper mysteries of God.
Reading Bible and Prayer is where its at .. Not listening to theologians.. "Saints" if you will.
There are too many false prophets twisting God's Word. They "wrest" the scriptures to their own destruction (in hell).
The Word of God only.. Old and New Testaments
We are in perilous times... BIBLE ONLY
"Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:"1 John 4:1
Do you understand this? If Jesus has entered into your body then and only then you will "confess" that Jesus has come into YOUR flesh...
Anyone can say "Jesus has come in the flesh" That is not what John is talking about here
The way you confess is that you have power to go and sin no more... Not even close to what you teach.. you do not bear witness and its easy to recognize.. and it might be because Jesus isn't in you.
That is why you INSIST man MUST sin.. even AFTER Jesus has supposedly entered into you... what a crime. What profanity is this teaching.. Those who preach this preach the power of satan.. not the power of God.
"And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world." 1 John 2
"Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. 23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. 24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father."
25 "And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life."
You teach weakness. YOU are antichrist John says! It is at LEAST the doctrine of antichrist you are repeating
"Beware of Deceivers"
7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. 8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. 9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. 10If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: 11For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds." 2 John
Look to yourselves John says. Make sure you aren't wrong, or succumbing to false teaching due to the "deceitfulness of sin".
"Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression." Psalms 19:13
Even Charles Spurgeon, (who believed in "Once saved always saved") taught about different kinds of sins. Presumptuous sins VS Sins of ignorance. "
Spurgeon Sermons 0135
Spurgeon Gems vols 22-24
"Presumptuous" in the Strong's concordance: pride, insolence, presumptuousness, arrogance
'PRIDE" is a synonym of presumptuous.
Sins in Ignorance is the polar opposite.
Although sins of ignorance will occur as Paul, John and throughout the whole Bible we learn this. BUT
We need to be actively walking with the Lord. Step after step. Precept after precept. Here a little, there a little. This we do as we grow into the fullness of the stature of Christ.
As God said, [[[MY PEOPLE]]]] ARE [[[DESTROYED]]] for [[[LACK OF KNOWLEDGE.]]].
Ignorance will DESTROY YOU. Because that is where you are sinning!! Well, it better be in ignorance. And this is where the Fear of God comes in... Because if you WILLFULLY SIN there remains NO MORE Sacrifice for sin but a CERTAIN FEARFUL EXPECTATION (certainly expect destruction) of FIERY INDIGNATION if you willfully sin......!!!!!! Hebrews 10
What does "destroy" mean?! What do you think it means? It means physically here on earth and then in hell!!
You stop eating, you stop growing. You stop walking forward with God, you stop growing. You turn back and walk the other way then you are playing Russian roulette with your eternal soul.
So is it "proud" to say "I am without willful (presumptuous) sin?" Or is it proud to presumptuously sin. According to the Bible (and even the man Spurgeon, who's words are equal to Scripture to his cultists), its the latter.
It is pride which causes disobedience... and when you willfully sin, you are being disobedient to God!
Strong's Entry for "presumptuously" (and pride, proud - Noun).
Lexicon Search for "Presumptuously"
Lexicon entry for "presumptuously" (Verb)
People consider what you are saying.... deeply consider it. Before you go and give people a license for sin and God destroy you.. I pray for your souls.. And I pray for mine because as Paul said,
"But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. " 1 Corinthians 9:27
Paul said himself he does this or else he would be a CASTAWAY
"But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." 1 John 1:7
So you had BETTER be walking in that light brethren.. because that is the conditions God has laid out in His Word for His New Creation to walk in so they remain clean and pure before God in this world...
You can be saved!
God loves the people in the world so much that He came down to die for us. If God is opening your heart to His message and you feel convicted for your sins which have separated you from a holy God and you feel the need to be forgiven, then say this prayer. This is how I was powerfully converted to the Christ in 1997!
Say, "My Lord and my God, have mercy on me, a sinner. I believe Jesus the Christ died on the cross and shed His blood for the forgiveness of all my sins. I believe Jesus raised from the dead and ascended into heaven and is now on the right-hand side of God listening to this prayer. I open up the door of my heart and I invite You in, Lord Jesus. Thank you, God, for saving my soul and I vow to serve you with all my heart which is the first and greatest commandment. Amen."
